The outlet says that: "The window for mutually beneficial cooperation should extend far beyond a mere 90-day period. Hopefully, the US side will build on the outcomes of the recent talks and continue to meet China halfway."
Well, I don't think anyone is expecting any miracles in the next 90 days. And as mentioned at the time of the trade truce, this period is likely to be a subjective one rather than a firm deadline. If negotiations are in progress, I don't see why they wouldn't extend it beyond the 90-day period. That unless Trump loses patience with China of course.
Analysts speaking to the paper did note that Beijing is unlikely to rush to announce how exactly it will meet all of its pledges though. Adding that there might not be too much clarity on non-tariff barriers as both sides look to engage.
Even if we do end up getting purchase agreements and what not, I would highly expect all of this to be a charade of sorts. Just think back to the failure of the Phase One trade deal and we're pretty much going down that same exact path this time around.
