After nearly 30 years as a community hub, Jitters is teaming up with chef Felix Alcaide (One Kitchen Collaborative) and GRAMMY-winning local Jason Mraz for a full refresh—new look, new menu, and a full lineup of events.
Jitters has always been a place to connect, recharge, and create. Mraz has played impromptu sets there for years and sees it as part of his roots.
“Jitters is a place that has seen my friends and me through so many chapters of life,” he said. “I started my career strumming songs in the corner of a coffee shop… Oceanside deserves a place like this—where everyone can feel at home and gather for good food and good fun.”
The renovation wrapped in late April, by rolling out community events. The first Taco Tuesday kicked off on April 22, with more on May 27 and June 17.
Chef Alcaide’s new menu keeps the soul of Jitters intact while adding globally inspired, plant-forward dishes using local ingredients—like a killer falafel burger and rotating avocado toast. Sweet blended drinks are still on the menu, just slimmed down.
The big reveal happens July 12 with the “Summer Bash” from 12 to 5 p.m. Expect live music, DJ sets, comedy, workshops, and food, celebrating Jitters as Oceanside’s go-to “third space.”
Local love remains central. Jitters continues to support area artists, farms (including Mraz’s own), and nearby businesses like Cats & Crystals.
“This isn’t just a facelift—it’s a homecoming,” said longtime owner Gilley. “Jitters has always been more than coffee—it’s full of heart, humor, and community. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back.”
