Piceance Mustangs, a nonprofit, is hosting a Wild Horse and Burro adoption this weekend in Greeley.
The first viewing is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Island Grove Regional Park, 600 N. 14th Ave., Greeley. The second viewing is from 8-10 a.m. Saturday.
The bidding starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Island Grove. There will be around 40 horses and 10 burros up for adoption.
Piceance Mustangs was founded in 2018 and is based in Meeker. The volunteer group provides information and education about the value of wild horses, with a mission statement of “the long-term maintenance of a viable, healthy, free-roaming horse herd on healthy rangelands.”
The nonprofit partners with the Bureau of Land Management White River Field office in Meeker to provide support for range improvement projects. Those projects include the removal of old barbed wire fencing, repairing existing fencing, improving water and other projects.
