(KRON) -- Multiple eastbound lanes on the Bay Bridge have been shut down due to police activity Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Lanes 1 and 5 of I-80 just west of Treasure Island are currently closed as first responders are dispatched to the sides of the bridge.
The three center lanes remain open but are experiencing heavy traffic as the incident is happening during the weekday rush hour.
It is currently unknown when the lanes will reopen. "Please avoid the area & exercise patience while we attempt to resolve this incident," the CHP said.
