Egypt was crowned champion of the Official African Traditional Karate Championship, organized by the Egyptian Traditional Karate Federation (ETKF) at Cairo International Stadium.
Egypt’s national karate team copped 67 medals at the tournament, followed by Sudan with 27 medals, and Congo with 16.
As many as 150 players from 15 African countries competed at the continental event which wrapped up Friday 25/4/2025.
Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi, who attended some of the tournament’s matches, applauded the successful organization of the event.
He said hosting the African championship in Egypt reflects the country’s strong relations with sisterly African nations at the sports level.
It also affirms Egypt’s commitment to opening up new opportunities for all sports to grow and flourish, the minister noted.
