A 53-year-old woman who was fatally injured when a pickup truck lost control and drove off the roadway into the San Diego Bay, killing two of its occupants, has been identified.
Three people were in the GMC pickup truck, which was traveling southbound in the 1400 block of Harbor Island Drive last Thursday when for unknown reasons it crashed into the bay, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Medical officials said Anne Achieng Confer of Maryland was extricated from the truck and given life-saving measures and taken to the UCSD Medical Center, where she died at about 10:15 p.m. Thursday.
A second victim was admitted to a nearby hospital, where that person was also pronounced dead. He has only been identified as a 45-year-old man from Oceanside, pending notification of next of kin.
San Diego Harbor Police said that a third victim was pulled to shore by a passerby before officers arrived. She was taken to a hospital in unspecified condition. Her name was not immediately available.
