Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para fencer Venketeswar Ramesh Rao shone at the 2025 Para Fencing Satellite Cup, held in Hong Kong, China, from April 11–13, bringing pride to India.
Hailing from Ganjam district, Rao delivered an outstanding performance, clinching a bronze medal in the Men’s Foil Individual event. Fellow Odia fencer Rakhal Kumar Sethy also excelled, securing a bronze in the same category.
The Department of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, lauded both athletes for their remarkable achievements.
Recently, Rao won a gold medal at the National Para Fencing Championships 2025, held at Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
