CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Two people are dead in separate homicide investigations early Sunday morning, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Around 2 a.m., officers responded to the 4800 block of Wallingford Street about an assault with a deadly weapon with injury. When they arrived, they found a person with stab wounds.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries but was pronounced dead by medical staff, officials said.
Person fatally shot near CATS transit station in Uptown: MedicAbout 4.5 hours later, around 6:30 a.m., CMPD said they were on the scene of a homicide in the 200 block of Eastway Drive in northeast Charlotte. No other information was released on this incident.
That's now three homicides CMPD is investigating in eight hours after police responded to a fatal shooting near the CATS transit station in Uptown late Saturday night.
