Drew Lock has bounced around the NFL since entering the league out of Mizzou in 2019. Now, he’s reportedly bouncing around once again, but this time it’s back to a familiar destination for Lock.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Lock has agreed to contract terms with the Seattle Seahawks, where he spent the 2023 season. He is expected to compete for the primary backup role behind projected starter Sam Darnold.

Lock originally entered the NFL as a 2nd-round pick for the Denver Broncos and started 21 games across his first 3 seasons. Overall team success lagged behind with the Broncos going 8-13 while Lock completed 59.3% of his passes for 4,750 yards, 25 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
The quarterback was eventually included in Denver’s trade to acquire Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks. During his first stint in Seattle, Lock appeared in just 4 games (2 starts) behind Geno Smith while throwing for 543 yards with 3 touchdowns. In 2024, Lock began the year as the primary backup to Daniel Jones with the New York Giants and would appear in 8 games while the team went 1-4 in Lock’s 5 starts.
Moving forward, Lock is unlikely to seriously compete for a starting job in the NFL, but he’s at least in line to remain on a roster for the 2025 season.
