The Automatic Petroleum Products Pricing Committee announced gasoline and diesel price increases on Friday.
The prices of mazut supplied to electricity and food industries, along with natural gas for vehicles, will remain unchanged. However, the government has proceeded with lifting fuel subsidies on other petroleum product.
According to the announcement, the prices are as follows:
95-octane gasoline from 17 to 19 Egyptian pounds per liter. 92-octane gasoline from 15.25 to 17.25 Egyptian pounds per liter. 80-octane gasoline from 13.75 to 15.75 Egyptian pounds per liter. Diesel from 13.5 to 15.5 Egyptian pounds per liter. Kerosene from 13.5 to 15.5 Egyptian pounds per liter. Mazut (heavy fuel oil) supplied to other industries: the price of a ton of mazut from 9500 to 10500 Egyptian pounds per ton. Household butane cylinder (12.5 kg) from 150 to 200 Egyptian pounds. Commercial butane cylinder from 300 to 400 Egyptian pounds. Bulk liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per ton from 12000 to 16000 Egyptian pounds. Gas supplied to brick kilns from 190 to 210 Egyptian pounds per million thermal units.In March, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that the government continues to implement its economic reform plan, which includes the complete lifting of subsidies on petroleum products by the end of 2025.
Madbouly said that the government is proceeding with its gradual plan to lift fuel subsidies by the end of 2025, while maintaining some forms of support, such as “cross-subsidization” between petroleum products, to ensure price balance.
He stressed that diesel and butane cylinders will remain subsidized, taking into account the most needy groups.
