On Air Today: ‘Phantom Limb’ at the Ackland Art Museum ...Middle East

chapelboro - News

97.9 The Hill WCHL and Chapelboro.com are your headquarters for local news and local voices in Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Every weekday morning, 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck chats with government officials, UNC scholars, business and nonprofit leaders, area musicians, and others in our community as they share their thoughts, their experience, and their expertise on the central issues of today. Click here to listen back to all of Aaron’s conversations – and tune in to “This Morning with Aaron Keck” at 7:30 a.m. on 97.9 The Hill to hear those conversations live.

Aaron welcomes three UNC artists to discuss “Phantom Limb,” a new exhibition at the Ackland Art Museum showcasing UNC’s 2025 MFA class. Artists Rebecca Pempek, John Felix Arnold, and Dominique Muñoz discuss their work, and curator Julianne Miao is also on hand to bring it all together: a “phantom limb” is the painful sensation that people sometimes experience in parts of the body that have been removed, and the students’ works all use art to examine the often-invisible sources of lingering personal and collective trauma.

“Phantom Limb” is on display at the Ackland through May 11. An especially good opportunity to see it is this Friday, April 11: it’s Second Friday ArtWalk in Chapel Hill, and the Ackland will be offering workshops and tours with the artists from 5-9 p.m.
