A Solana Beach dog groomer who pleaded guilty to attempting to sexually assault a 75-year-old woman inside her home near the Torrey Highlands was sentenced Monday to five years in state prison.
Tony Choi, 52, showed up at the woman’s Carmel Valley Road home last Oct. 31 and asked her if her dogs needed to be washed, according to the sheriff’s department.
After the woman invited Choi into her residence, sheriff’s officials said last fall, he tried to sexually assault her, but the victim’s caretaker interrupted the attack and Choi fled. He was arrested later that night at his home.
Along with prison time, Choi’s sentence carries a requirement that he register as a sex offender.
