AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department on Monday evening said it was actively conducting a death investigation in downtown Austin, according to a social media post.
The investigation was being conducted near the intersection of Third Street and Nueces Street, according to police.
While it was not immediately clear what happened leading to the investigation, Austin-Travis County EMS told KXAN's Grace Reader that the agency responded to a call for a gunshot wound.
“ATCEMS Medics transported an adult patient to a local trauma center with critical, life-threatening injuries," ATCEMS told us.
APD said it will conduct a media briefing later Monday, however, the agency did not provide a time.
