GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Months after a Gastonia 16-year-old boy was shot and killed and another was charged with first-degree murder, a second arrest has been made in the case.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force, along with Gastonia police, arrested 25-year-old Jayveon Love and charged him with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.
Detectives say evidence shows Love was driving an older model black Tesla during the shooting.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 in the 1500 block of North Chester Street.
Shortly after, 16-year-old Sean James Curtis Simpson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder in connection to the death of Zaquavious Dawkins.
Family of slain Gastonia 16-year-old speaks out after police arrest, charge teen suspectProsecutors said Dawkins and another victim were walking along South Chester Street when Simpson reportedly opened fire. Dawkins was shot and killed, while the other victim was injured.
Simpson was denied bond at his first hearing in court. Under the new North Carolina law, Simpson is being charged as an adult due to the nature of the crime.
Love is currently being held at the Gaston County Jail under no bond.
