Shafaq News/ The United States carriedout four airstrikes on Sunday targeting positions held by Yemen’s Houthimovement, also known as Ansarallah, on Kamaran Island off the western coast of Hodeidahprovince, regional media reported.
The strikes are part of a US campaignto disrupt Houthi operations in the Red Sea, where the Iran-aligned group haslaunched repeated attacks on commercial vessels. The Houthis say their actionsare in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
Houthi officials said dozens of civilianswere killed or wounded last week in US airstrikes on a gathering in Hodeidah.The group also reported six casualties, including both dead and injured, in aseparate round of strikes on Sunday in Saada province, a Houthi stronghold innorthern Yemen.
There was no immediate comment from theUS Department of Defense.
Washington resumed its militaryoperations in mid-March after a near two-month pause, following renewed Houthimaritime attacks in the region after the ceasefire collapse in Gaza.
The Houthis control much of northernYemen and are designated as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” by the UnitedStates.
