RJ Godfrey is heading back to the ACC after just 1 season at Georgia.
The forward is transferring back to Clemson, where he spent the first 2 seasons of his collegiate career, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos on Friday morning.

— Pete Nakos (@PeteNakos_) April 4, 2025Godfrey is the son of former Bulldogs star linebacker Randall Godfrey, so his bolting Athens to go back to Clemson stings a little bit for Georgia.
The news of Godfrey’s move back to Clemson comes just 1 day after former Georgia point guard Silas Demary Jr. committed to UConn, so it’s been a tough few days for Bulldogs basketball.
Godfrey averaged 6.4 points and 3.8 rebounds for the Bulldogs in 2024-25. He shot 53.2% from the field this past season and blocked 19 shots. Godfrey scored in double figures in 8 games and posted 2 double-doubles.
The departure of Godfrey and Demary is a double blow for Georgia, which went 8-10 this season in the rugged SEC and squeezed its way into the NCAA Tournament as part of the SEC’s record-breaking 14 teams that got in.
Godfrey’s production on the offensive end tailed off toward the end of this season. He scored just 11 total points in Georgia’s final 5 games.
