Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal has decided to oppose the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Parliament.
BJD MP Dr. Sasmit Patra said that the party had made some suggestions to be included into the Bill which were rejected. The party will oppose the Bill, he said.
The BJD will actively participate in both the discussion and voting on the Bill.
BJD MP Muzibulla Khan will speak on behalf of the party in Parliament during the debate on the matter, Patra said.
Notably, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday tabeled the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha.
