OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- A person was killed after a crash Sunday afternoon on I-580 in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Officers received a call around 2:55 p.m. of a silver Range Rover (pictured below) that crashed into a tree on the westbound lanes before the 14th Avenue exit.
The front passenger died, and the driver was taken to the hospital where their condition is unknown, CHP said. A third occupant of the SUV, a minor, is expected to survive and recover.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Lanes 3 and 4 were temporarily shut down but have since reopened around 5 p.m.
