Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr saw their season come to an end on Friday night with a Sweet 16 loss to Tennessee. However, it was a strong opening season for head coach Mark Pope, especially with some new faces from the transfer portal.
Butler (San Diego State) and Carr (Wake Forest, Delaware) were just a few of the first-year Wildcats to play key roles as Pope settles into Lexington. And after watching their season end, that duo took it upon themselves to let the rest of the country know what it’s like to play for Pope, especially directing comments at any players currently in the portal.
“I think it was really cool that we were able to set the culture for Pope’s first year,” said Butler. “People had to come in, and the bar’s going to be set high for the next group to come in under Pope. It’s going to be fun to watch, for sure.”
“If you’re in the transfer portal and looking for a spot to go, come to Kentucky,” echoed Carr. “I’ll tell you that much, go to Kentucky!”
