Bhubaneswar: A former Block Public Health Officer in Kandhamal district has been sentenced to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.
Doctor Nisith Nisanth Malu, former Block Public Health Officer, I/C CHC Phiringia, Kandhamal district and currently Medical Officer (MO) at Sub-Divisional Hospital, Talcher, Anugul district, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case for demanding and taking bribe of Rs.7,000 from a multi-purpose health worker (Male) for passing his RCM and TA Bills, was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Phulbani.
Malu was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of Malu from service following his conviction.
