POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
TRAFFIC STOP: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of North State Street at 1:50 a.m. March 21 and arrested Julio R. Najera Leon, 32, of Elk, on suspicion of conspiracy, petty theft with priors, violating his parole and multiple probation violations; arrested Sadie L. Gravlee, 28, of Ukiah, on suspicion of conspiracy and violating her probation. They were both booked into Mendocino County Jail.
PANHANDLER: Caller at the corner of Talmage Road and Airport Park Boulevard reported at 11:53 a.m. March 21 that someone was panhandling there. An officer responded and reported that the person was “contacted and left the area upon request.”
PANHANDLER: Caller at Walmart on Airport Park Boulevard reported at 12:21 p.m. March 21 that someone was panhandling there. An officer responded and reported that the person was “counseled and advised.”
VANDALISM: Caller in the 800 block of South Orchard Avenue reported at 1:44 p.m. March 21 that vandalism had just occurred. An officer responded and arrested a 16-year-old Ukiah boy and booked him into Mendocino County Juvenile Hall.
STALKING: Caller in the 500 block of North Oak Street requested at 4:15 p.m. March 21 to speak to an officer regarding stalking. The officer took a report.
PACKAGE STOLEN: Caller on Louise Court reported at 8:58 p.m. March 21 that a package had been stolen. An officer took the information and noted that “follow-up was needed.”
ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON: An officer responded to the 300 block of Cooper Lane at 10:21 p.m. March 21 when a caller reported an assault involving a knife and arrested Jacob T. Mullins, 21, of Willits, on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect was booked into county jail.
MAN YELLING: Caller in the 1100 block of West Standley Street reported at 2:16 a.m. March 23 that a person was “yelling and screaming (and) tried to get into a vehicle.” An officer responded and arrested a 36-year-old Montana man for being drunk in public. He was booked into county jail.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE: Caller in the 1100 block of North State Street reported at 4:09 a.m. March 23 that a suspicious vehicle was near a Dumpster and a person was seen “crouching down outside of it for an extended period of time.” An officer responded and arrested Aaron S. Oresco, 39, of Ukiah, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with priors and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail under additional charges of petty theft with priors, driving on a suspended/revoked license, false imprisonment and committing offenses while out on bail.
WOMAN WALKED THROUGH HOUSE: Caller in the 700 block of Waugh Lane reported at 11:05 a.m. March 23 that an “elderly woman walked through their house.” An officer responded and reported that the woman’s family was located.
DRUG POSSESSION: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously on East Gobbi Street at the railroad tracks and arrested Sixto C. Ramos Oconnell, 34, March 23, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with priors and of violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: A caller in the 700 block of South State Street reported “suspicious circumstances” at 10:46 a.m. March 23. An officer responded and reported the incident was “not as reported.” At 10:58 a.m., an officer at that location arrested a 53-year-old Ukiah man on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and disobeying a court order. At 12:35 p.m., a caller at the same location reported lost/stolen medication. At 2:34 p.m., a woman calling 911 from the same location was “advised to stop making false reports.”
LOUD MUSIC: Caller in the 300 block of Gardens Avenue reported at 3:47 p.m. March 23 that loud music was being played. An officer responded and reported that those responsible were advised to turn the music down, then later reported that they were “counseled and advised again.”
LANDLORD/TENANT ISSUE: Caller in the 400 block of East Gobbi Street reported at 3:53 p.m. March 23 having a landlord/tenant issue. The caller was provided information. At 4:20 p.m., a caller at the same address reported a disturbance involving a landlord/tenant dispute. The caller was advised. A 5:45 p.m., a caller at the same address reported having a neighbor problem regarding a loud generator. The caller was referred to Code Enforcement.
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
DUI: An officer responded to the Safeway parking lot on South Main Street at 6:36 p.m. March 21 for a report of a traffic collision and arrested Carl Lavender, 39, of Willits, on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was cited and released and the vehicle stored.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
