Caitlin Clark knows what it is like to give it your all in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, JuJu Watkins went through that in a devastating way on Monday after a season-ending injury for the USC star.
One of the leading scorers in the entire country and a star on the big stage, Watkins went down with a knee injury against Mississippi State. The Trojans confirmed after the game that the injury would require surgery, bringing Watkins’s time in March Madness to a close.
On Tuesday, Clark reacted to that news via her personal social media account. Former Iowa star and reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year sent thoughts and prayers out to Watkins while saying USC’s star will “come back stronger than ever.”

While Caitlin Clark and Watkins never faced off in college, the two were tied together by the battle for the scoring title last season. Clark led the country while averaging 31.6 points per game as Watkins finished 2nd as a true freshman, averaging 27.1 points per game.
Watkins averaged 23.9 points per game this season while leading USC to the outright Big Ten title in the Trojans’ first season in the league. She also captured the B1G Player of the Year, becoming the first player to capture the award since Clark’s 3-peat began in 2022.
Now, USC will try to navigate its way to the Final Four without Watkins as the star turns her attention to rehab and recovery.
