PACOIMA — A 36-year-old man was shot to death before sunrise Monday outside a church in Pacoima in what police said they believe is a gang-related killing.
The shooting was reported at 3:14 a.m. in the 11900 block of Dronfield Avenue, two blocks west of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman told City News Service.
Arriving officers found the man down in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Eisenman said.
The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner later identified the man as Joseph Rojas.
Video from the scene showed officers performing CPR on the mortally wounded man.
Gunshots were heard but no suspect was seen, Eisenman said.
The shooting is believed gang related, she said.
