POLICE REPORTS
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
WELFARE CHECK: Caller near Todd Grove Park in the 500 block of Park Boulevard requested a welfare check on a person in the area at 11:55 a.m. March 16. An officer responded and gave the person “a courtesy ride to the shelter.”
ASSAULT: A caller at the Building Bridges shelter on South State Street reported at 5:06 p.m. that an assault occurred. An officer responded and arrested Cole R. Ickes, 33, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of violating his parole, resisting and battery. He was booked into Mendocino County Jail.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 600 block of Jones Street at 7:32 a.m. March 16 and took a report of a death.
STOLEN VEHICLE: An officer located a stolen vehicle in the 200 block of North Orchard Avenue at 8:12 a.m. and arrested Ryan R. Roy-Downey, 35, of Covelo, on suspicion of vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
PACKAGES STOLEN: Caller in the 300 block of North Main Street reported at 8:31 a.m. March 17 that packages were stolen from their porch overnight. The information was taken and follow-up planned.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON: An officer contacted a person behaving suspiciously in the 300 block of South State Street at 4:12 p.m. March 17 and cited and released a San Francisco man.
KIDS PLAYING TOO LATE: Caller in Todd Grove Park reported at 9:29 p.m. March 17 that children were playing on a play structure after hours. An officer responded and advised those responsible of park hours.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: An officer responded to the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard at 2:44 a.m. March 18 for a report of a domestic argument and arrested Bradley M. Nelson, 40, of Rohnert Park, on suspicion of domestic violence, and Kelli M. Hall, 37, of Sonoma County, on suspicion of cruelty to a child and violating her probation. Both were booked into county jail.
CAMPING NEAR SKATE PARK: Caller at the Ukiah Skate Park on Low Gap Road reported at 7:24 a.m. March 20 that someone was in front of doors, refusing to leave. An officer responded and arrested a 26-year-old Wyoming man for violating city camping codes. He was booked at county jail.
GRAFFITI: Caller in the 600 block of North State Street reported at 7:56 a.m. March 20 finding graffiti on a building. An officer took a report.
TEACHER ATTACKED: Caller in the 500 block of Low Gap Road reported at 9:18 a.m. March 20 that a “student attacked a teacher and is now out front yelling.” An officer responded and took a report.
GRAFFITI: An officer responded to the intersections of Clara Avenue and the railroad tracks at 9:46 a.m. March 20, and Ford Street and the railroad tracks at 10:03 a.m., for follow-ups and took reports of graffiti.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 1000 block of North Bush Street at 10:44 a.m. March 20 and took a report of a death.
FRUIT VENDORS: Caller in the 1200 block of Airport Park Boulevard reported at 1 p.m. March 20 that people were selling fruit in the parking lot. An officer responded and reported that the vendors were contacted and a message was left for the caller.
DONUTS: Caller on Orr Street reported at 1:15 p.m. March 20 having an “ongoing issue with someone spinning donuts in the parking lot” with their vehicle. The caller was provided information.
MAN STUMBLING IN ROAD: Caller at the corner of South Orchard Avenue and East Gobbi Street reported at 1:52 p.m. March 20 that a man was “walking in the intersection and stumbling.” An officer checked the area and reported that the man was gone.
TROUBLE WITH PHONE CALLS: Caller on Thomas Street requested at 1:56 p.m. March 20 to speak to an officer regarding phone calls. The caller was provided information.
TROUBLE WITH MAIL: Caller in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue requested at 2:15 p.m. March 20 to speak to an officer regarding a “neighbor issue with mail.” The officer reported that a “follow-up (was) to be done.”
KIDS WITH WEED: Caller at Kohl’s on North Orchard Avenue reported at 2:34 p.m. March 20 that “juveniles were in the parking lot with weed.” An officer checked the area and reported that the kids were gone.
KIDS VANDALIZING: Caller at Vinewood Park on Elm Street reported at 6:06 p.m. March 20 catching “vandalism in progress by a group of juveniles.” An officer responded and arrested two juveniles, citing one and booking the other into Juvenile Hall.
KIDS THROWING ROCKS: Caller at 9:21 p.m. March 20 reported that kids on the pedestrian overpass above Highway 101 were “throwing rocks at cars” on the freeway. An officer responded and reported that the kids were gone and that there had been “no damage.”
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
SIGN LOOSE: Caller at the corner of West Fir and North Main streets reported at 12:36 p.m. March 16 that the “old sign for the Colonial Inn has come loose and swaying in the wind.” An officer responded and reported that barricades and caution tape were placed around the sign.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 200 block of South Franklin Street at 5:48 p.m. March 16 and took a report of a death.
MOUNTAIN LION: Caller on North Lincoln Street requested at 8:34 a.m. March 17 to speak to an officer about a mountain lion. The information was taken and the caller advised of their options.
DONUTS: Caller on West Spruce Street reported at 1:31 p.m. March 17 that “a reckless vehicle was doing donuts in the area.” The information was taken for officers on patrol.
MAN YELLING IN THE ROAD: Caller on North Franklin Street reported at 8:13 p.m. March 17 that a man was yelling in the middle of the road. An officer responded and arrested a 50-year-old Ukiah man for being drunk in public and violating his parole. He was booked into county jail.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper. The Daily Journal makes no exceptions.
