2025 JAPAN SWIM

Thursday, March 20th – Sunday, March 23rd Tokyo Aquatics Centre LCM (50m) SwimSwam Preview #1 SwimSwam Preview #2 Meet Central Day 1 Recap/Day 2 Recap Live Results

The 2025 Japan Swim continued from Tokyo with swimmers vying for a chance to add their names to the growing Japanese roster for this summer’s World Championships.

One man we know who will not be in Singapore is 30-year-old Daiya Seto, as the Olympic medalist revealed he has withdrawn from the remainder of this competition.

His decision stems from a lingering broken rib he suffered last year which is impacting his performance.

Seto was entered in today’s 200m IM but announced his withdrawal prior to the start of the morning session.

“The fracture at the end of last year had a bigger impact than I expected, and I was unable to prepare myself mentally, which is the most important thing for a meet,” Seto stated to Asian media today.

“I agonized over it with my coach and trainer until the very last moment, but I have come to the decision to withdraw this time.

“I’m very sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it, but I will reset both my body and mind and come back stronger in order to aim for LA in 2028.” (Yahoo!)

Remarkably as a testament to his persistence and presence, the 2025 World Championshps in Singapore will mark the first time in 13 years that Seto will not be selected to the nation’s roster. His absence means he will not have a chance to earn a record 8th consecutive World Championships medal.

Last year in Paris, Seto placed 7th in both the 200m IM and 400m IM.
