Harrods is proposing six-figure payouts to victims who were sexually assaulted by former owner Mohamed al-Fayed, it has been reported.
Allegations that Fayed raped and sexually assaulted dozens of women at his properties in London and Paris were first made last year.
In November the Met said Fayed may have raped and abused at least 111 women and girls over nearly four decades.
According to Sky News, Harrods is now negotiating the terms of a redress scheme through its law firm MPL Legal.
Potential claimants have been told they could be eligible for general damages lump sums of up to £110,000 or £200,000, depending upon their willingness to submit to a psychiatric assessment arranged by the company, it is claimed.
A Harrods spokesperson told The i Paper: “It would be premature for us to comment on the nature and details of a scheme that is currently under consultation.
“We are actively inviting the valuable input from Survivors and their legal representatives to establish the final scheme that aims to be survivor-first, trauma-informed, and fair in its approach to compensation.
“Further updates will be provided once the consultation period is complete.”
This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
