LOCKHART, Texas (KXAN) — The Lockhart Police Department said it has made an arrest after a body was found at City Park overnight.

LPD said 19-year-old Aaron Jose Lopez was charged in connection with the homicide of 19-year-old Michael Glasscock.

According to police, Glasscock was found with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.

The city posted on social media at 6:44 a.m. about the investigation, asking people to avoid the area while police investigated. The scene has since been cleared. and police said there was no threat to the public.

The police department said in a press release that officers were dispatched to the park around 2 a.m. after receiving information about a deceased person in the area.

"After an initial investigation, Lockhart Police developed probable cause to arrest Lopez," LPD said. "He was detained and later charged with first-degree Murder and Abuse of a Corpse."

This was the first homicide investigation of 2025 in Lockhart, according to the department.
