Arkansas held on by the skin of its teeth to advance to the Round of 32 over Kansas Thursday night.
The Razorbacks did it without one of their best players – but that may not be the case for Arkansas’ upcoming matchup against St. John’s on Saturday. According to CBB insider Jon Rothstein, Arkansas head coach John Calipari said forward Adou Thiero “might” be able to suit up for tomorrow’s matchup against the Red Storm.
Thiero is overcoming a hyperextended left knee suffered against Missouri.

It’s hard to overstate how much Arkansas could use Thiero’s rebounding against an opponent like St. John’s, too. The Red Storm have some of the best offensive rebounding numbers in the sport and the No. 1 defense according to KenPom. Winning the rebounding battle – or at least staying afloat – is crucial if the Razorbacks want to make it to the second weekend.
Some of Thiero’s best games this season came in non-conference play. The junior scored 24 points in a loss against Baylor, 26 points in a loss to Illinois and 13 in a win over Michigan.
Arkansas vs. St. John’s is set to tip off at 2:40 p.m. on CBS from Providence, Rhode Island.
