Why not join the Oceanside Public Library and Professor Garrett Chaffin-Quiray for a new movie series: A Man Alone?
As part of this series, the library will screen films about morally conflicted characters who are fighting to recover their humanity while up against perilous circumstances.
Professor Chaffin-Quiray, a Professor of Cinema Studies at Palomar Community College, will present each screening by exploring the artistic and sociological character of the films and lead a discussion afterward.
Light refreshments will be provided. The series will take place the first Monday of the month, on April 7, May 5, and June 2 at 6 p.m., in the Civic Center Library Community Room, at 330 N. Coast Highway in Oceanside.
The films are as follows:
Michael Clayton on April 7 at 6 p.m. Barton Fink on May 5 at 6 p.m. Dog Day Afternoon on June 2 at 6 p.m.Professor Garrett Chaffin-Quiray teaches Cinema Studies at Palomar Community College and has written two books: Cine-Me (2012) and Under the Tent-Pole: A Primer on Movies: Blockbusters, Oscar Winners, Alternatives, and You (2014).
