Mayor Pro Tem Dale Hall will seek election as the next mayor of Greeley, he announced Thursday.
Hall hopes to continue the work that he and the rest of the city council have already started and said he’ll work to keep the connection between residents and the government as strong as it has been.
“I am committed to making our community a better place for all residents,” Hall said in a news release. “My experience in city council and prior elected offices has shown me firsthand the importance of strong local leadership in addressing issues like the growth we are experiencing and the need for infrastructure, public safety, economic development, and community well-being that comes along with it.”
Hall said Greeley is ripe for strong, positive economic and business-friendly conditions that will support all people in their ability to live, work and play in the community.
Hall has served as the city councilman for Ward 4 since 2018, representing northwest Greeley. Before that, he was elected to be the state representative for District 48, when he also served on the Joint Budget Committee. He’s also served on the Weld County Council and the Board of County Commissioners.
Hall said he would use the knowledge he’s gained in his more than 19 years of experience as an elected representative to “bridge the gap between government and the citizens of Greeley.”
“The thing I enjoy the most about elected life is helping others,” he said in the release.
Hall also has 30 years of experience in the financial securities industry and over 35 years of experience in real estate property management. Hall currently has his own property management business, 365 REAL Property Management, which he started in 2012.
Hall was joined by family, friends, City Council Members Johnny Olson and Melissa McDonald and Mayor John Gates as he announced his mayoral bid Thursday at Lincoln Park.
Hall thanked his wife for her support and encouragement, as well as Gates, who voiced his support for his colleague and friend.
“People ask me if I care who succeeds me. Well, I care a lot,” Gates said. “I feel I have a 16-year legacy, and I can’t think of a better person to succeed me. I’m very proud to support and endorse Dale Hall as the next mayor of Greeley.”
Gates will complete his fourth and final term as mayor at the end of this year due to term limits.
Hall is the only candidate so far to announce a bid for mayor in the upcoming election.
