“Bo’s experience and passion for player development will be invaluable as our new Director of High School Relations,” Cochran said in a released statement.

Cochran served as the Alabama strength coach for Nick Saban from 2007-19. Scarbrough was a Crimson Tide running back from 2014-17, helping Alabama win national championships in 2015 and ’17.

Scarbrough, 30, played professionally from 2018-23. He was taken by the Dallas Cowboys in the 7th round of the 2018 NFL Draft but did not make the roster out of camp.

Scarbrough bounced around the league. He played in 7 regular-season games with the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks during the 2019 and ’20 seasons. Scarbrough’s only career touchdown came in his NFL debut against the Cowboys.

After the NFL, Scarbrough played for the USFL’s Birmingham Stallions, leading them to league championships in 2022 and ’23.

West Alabama is Cochran’s first head coaching job after his time at Georgia under Kirby Smart. The program is set to hold its spring game Friday.
