Bhubaneswar: Opposition Biju Janata Dal and Congress on Wednesday demanded immediate withdrawal of legislator Tara Prasad Bahinipati from the Odisha Assembly.
The BJD extended its support to protest staged by the Congress over the suspension of Bahinipati.
As soon as the Question Hour started at 10:30 am today, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Rama Chandra Kadam sought to speak on the issue. However, Speaker Surama Padhy did not allow him to speak during Question Hour. Hence, the Congress legislators boycotted the House and staged a protest near the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Assembly premises.
The BJD extended its support to the Congress on the issue.
A delegation of BJD led by its deputy leader in the Assembly, Prasanna Acharya, met the Speaker and requested her to withdraw the suspension of the Congress MLA.
