SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Anti-Elon Musk flyers are circulating around San Francisco -- tapped on light poles and Tesla cars. This appears to be a part of a nationwide boycott of the automaker over Musk's role within the Trump administration.
Teslas are hard to miss around the Bay Area, but now their owners are being targeted.
Flyers that read "Sell your swasticar…Don't be carplicit" are popping up around San Francisco. The signs show a picture of Elon Musk saluting. The bold flyers are being tapped on light poles and even on cars in the Marina neighborhood. Tesla drivers in the city say they don't blame people for protesting the automaker.
"I agree I don't like Elon and I don't like what he's doing it's horrible," said Louise, a Tesla owner in San Francisco. "I personally am not a fan of Elon Musk, and I understand why people are boycotting Tesla," said Jackie Burgos, also a Tesla owner in San Francisco.

Burgos says defacing cars is not the answer.
Signs urging Tesla owners are making their way across San Francisco."It's just very reckless, damaging people's personal property that they spend a lot of money on," Burgos said. "So I think that's a frustrating thing and I also do worry about the safety of my car."
Other flyers circulating say, "Tell your neighbors to sell your Tesla."
"Unfortunately I own a Tesla," Louise said. "I've had it for many years. If I could sell it, I would, but I can't. I mean who wants to buy a Tesla right?"
Tesla owners like Louise have been buying bumper stickers (pictured below) to avoid being targeted. "I bought it before I knew Elon was crazy... it should say I bought it before I knew Elon was evil," she said.
Matt Hiller of Mad Puffer Stickers started selling these bumper stickers in 2023. In two years, he's sold more than 50,000 across the world.

President Donald Trump, on Tuesday, publicly defended Musk and Tesla.
San Francisco police say officers will enforce the law and hold criminals accountable if they vandalize property -- ensuring those who damage or deface public or private property face the appropriate legal consequences.
