Hacks was created by Lucia Anielle, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky and premiered on Max in May 2021. The show follows Deborah Vance, a legendary comedian who is looking to reinvent herself after her long-running residency on the Las Vegas Strip is canceled. She hires young comedy writer Ava Daniels, and the two develop a complicated relationship as they challenge each other creatively and personally, navigating the comedy world together. The show has had popular appeal amongst critics and fans in addition to picking up several Emmy awards for writing, acting and Outstanding Comedy Series.

Now the two will have to figure out how to work together as Deborah begins a new chapter in her career.
