Ayesa wins design role on Lima’s new ring road
The joint venture of Ferrovial, Sacyr, and Acciona has awarded Spanish engineer Ayesa the contract to provide detailed engineering for one of the three sections of a new, €3bn ring road in Lima, Peru.

The 35km toll road will connect Lima and Callao, reducing congestion for 4.5 million residents in 11 districts.

Ayesa will design segment 2, which covers 15km and accounts for around 55% of the project’s total capital investment.

The company said it will be designed as an expressway with three lanes in each direction. It will have two twin tunnels, multiple other structures, retaining walls, trunk and side toll stations, and lateral roads to ease local traffic flow.

The road is being procured through a co-financed public-private partnership (PPP) model, with toll revenues funding operational, maintenance, and initial capital expenditures.

Ayesa will develop Definitive Engineering Studies over the next 38 months. They will provide comprehensive analyses and plans to meet engineering, regulatory, and safety standards, while assessing feasibility and costs.

Overall, the project is expected to create 70,000 jobs.
