Two teens were hospitalized Thursday, March 6, after being shot at while waiting at a bus stop in North Hills near James Monroe High School.
The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. after the teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were approached by five suspects as they waited by a bus stop in the area of Nordhoff Street and Orion Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said. Details on the suspects and the circumstances leading up to the shooting were not released.
Authorities said the suspects were last seen fleeing westbound from the area. The two victims, who were hospitalized in stable condition, were described as uncooperative by police.
James Monroe High School was placed on lockdown, which later was lifted after school police searched the campus. Officials did not disclose whether the injured teenagers had any connection to the campus.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the Los Angeles School Police Department will be providing on campus and extra patrols this week,” the Los Angeles Unified School District said in a statement.
No additional information was immediately available.
