Authorities on Thursday identified the young man who was killed in a shooting that left another man wounded at a Mission Valley hotel.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire found Damian Martinez, 19, of El Monte dead in a hallway at the Handlery Hotel in the 900 block of Hotel Circle North at about 8:30 p.m. Monday, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The second victim, age 23, was outside the lobby of the hotel, suffering from apparently non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Officers quickly focused on a suspect, officials said, after learning that the shooter shooter had been seen in a dark-colored truck. The found that truck in the hotel parking lot, with the suspect, Kevin Casey Larin, 29, inside.
The Northridge man surrendered without incident. He’s being held at San Diego Central Jail with no bail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Police have disclosed no suspected motive for the shooting, but said the three men worked together and were in San Diego for that purpose.
