Tech billionaire Elon Musk, the moving force behind the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will meet with Senate Republicans on Wednesday to answer their questions and concerns about his aggressive efforts to shrink the federal bureaucracy.
Musk will be hosted by Senate Steering Committee Chairman Rick Scott (R-Fla.), who said the lunch meeting will give GOP colleagues a chance to ask questions.
“He’ll talk about what they’re doing and answer questions, that’s what he’s going to do,” Scott told reporters. “He’ll talk and be there to answer questions.
“The way I’ve been doing the Wednesday lunches is I try to bring in people to talk about what they’re doing and answer questions,” he added.
Musk’s cost-cutting efforts have gotten pushback from some Republicans, who have privately complained about they view as DOGE’s lack of transparency and its failure to respond to their questions.
GOP senators raised their issues with Musk and his cost-cutting team during a meeting with White House chief of staff Susie Wiles last week.
