Arkansas was rolling to an easy victory on Tuesday night when the Razorbacks met the only thing that could slow them down — Mother Nature.
Arkansas led visiting Louisiana-Monroe by a whopping 10-1 score in the bottom of the 7th inning. Victory was near but so were storm clouds apparently. The game was called because of unplayable field conditions as thunderstorms rained down on the field. There was plenty of lightning, too, making the prospect of coming back later in the night to play that much more difficult.
The double midweek series opener will resume on Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. local time in Fayetteville.
When the game does resume, Arkansas will be trying to improve to 11-1 overall and extend its win streak to 7.
And when the game resumes, Nolan Souza will be at third base and Cam Kozeal will be at second with nobody out for the Hogs, with Wehiwa Aloy batting. All Arkansas will need to do is score a run in that 7th inning to make the game end because of the 10-run rule.
Game 2 of the double midweek series will start approximately 30 minutes after the end of Game 1.
Arkansas is already 8-0 at home on the young season, and it looks like that home dominance will continue, at least to start on Wednesday.
