SOME fans of Jimmy John’s are vowing to never return after it ran out of a highly-anticipated offering.

The fast food chain promised customers the chance at the promotional giveaway earlier this month.

It was made to celebrate the arrival of its Toasted Sandwich selections to menus nationwide on March 3, per a news release from Inspire Brands, its parent company.

Not only can customers get any of the current offerings on Jimmy John’s menu toasted, but three new options were added.

They include the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Roast Beef & Cheddar, and Ultimate Italian.

Jimmy John’s acknowledged in the release that it “had [taken] its time” to make the Toasted Sandwich a possibility, and to honor customers’ patience, it would give away $1 million worth of them on March 4.

It would be known as “Toasted Tuesday,” with the free Toasted Sandwiches only available while supplies last.

Darin Dugan, chief brand marketing officer at Jimmy John’s, noted that the giveaway was to help ensure customers felt the Toasted Sandwich was “worth the wait.”

“Our guests have been patient, so we’re saying thanks the best way we know how: by giving away $1 million worth of these crispy, melty sandwiches,” Dugan said in the release.

“They’re everything you love about Jimmy John’s, now with a toasty twist.”

GIVEAWAY RULES

Customers could only get one of the three new selections as part of the promotion, and were limited to one per person.

The free Toasted Sandwich was also only awarded to those who had accounts on the Jimmy John’s website or mobile application who used the code TOASTEDTUESDAY.

Jimmy John’s warned consumers of the possibility that the Toasted Sandwich giveaway would go quickly.

“Hungry fans should act fast, once $1 million worth of Toasted Sandwiches are claimed, they’re gone,” it stated in the release.

The $1 million mark of Toasted Sandwiches was hit before 11:00 am EST on Tuesday, according to a post from Jimmy John’s on X.

“Our Toasted Sandwich giveaway was so fire that we sold out before we even had a chance to announce it,” the sandwich brand wrote.

BUYER BACKLASH

This wasn’t excuse enough for some customers, however.

Some were so frustrated they said they’d be leaving Jimmy John’s for competitors from now on.

“Getting jersey mikes now,” a particularly peeved customer fumed.

“I don’t even like jersey mikes that much but going out of my way to eat there today,” another echoed.

“Will not be eating at Jimmy John’s again. Ever,” a third wrote.

Several others issued similar complaints, calling the giveaway “poorly executed” and claiming the promo code didn’t work.

It’s unclear if Jimmy John’s will offer disgruntled customers another chance at a free Toasted Sandwich.

Jimmy John’s also caused controversy with its pickle-based sandwich last fall.

Competitors like Subway also recently brought back a fan-favorite discounted sandwich for $6.99 with only one way to get it.
