Jenna Bush Hager Outraged Over Harsh Criticism of Millie Bobby Brown

Jenna Bush Hager is praising Millie Bobby Brown's response to the abundance of comments she's received criticizing her newly-adopted style.

In case you missed it, the 21-year-old Stranger Things actress has been targeted by so-called "fans" attacking the blonde 'do and refreshed fashion she's been rocking lately.

Following her red carpet outing with husband Jake Bongiovi over the weekend, a new wave of backlash rolled in and Brown eventually spoke out about the harsh objections in a statement shared to her Instagram Story and again later in a three-minute video uploaded to the social media platform that addressed the "bullying" in-depth.

Now, midweek, Bush Hager is tapping in and coming to her defense.

"What are we teaching our kids?" the 43-year-old mom of three rhetorically asked her guest co-host Willie Geist during the Tuesday, March 4 episode of Jenna & Friends. "Because these are the women–I mean, Millie Bobby Brown, [Bush Hager's daughter] Mila loves her from Enola Holmes, from other shows that she's done that [are] for young girls."

Bush Hager continued, condemning the "people in their basements writing these horrible things, 'cause she's right, we've become a society where it's easy to say hateful things. Because you don't have to say it to somebody's face. You're in your basement typing mean comments."

"If you're the people writing that, maybe think like, 'What if Millie was my daughter? Or my cousin? Or my goddaughter?'" Bush Hager continued, "Whatever it is. 'Would I want strangers to talk about her that way?'"

Geist agreed, noting that this type of language is especially harmful to the adolescents and young people looking up to these stars, "Because of the world kids live in–with Instagram, especially–and they're comparing themselves to other people and the way they look, and the place they go and all that."

The two weren't going to let the "mean comments" become the scapegoat for not instilling confidence, emotional stability, or boundaries in children. Instead, they shared some ways they model healthy social media habits and interpersonal relationships.

"We try to really de-emphasize social media and emphasize the real world," the father of two explained. "My daughter is beautiful, but the things we talk about are the service she does and the sports she plays, and the grades she gets and how she treats her brother, her cousins and everybody else. That's who I want her to be, and if she's beautiful on top of it, which she is, that's great too."

"I think it's so important just to say things like, 'Oh my gosh, the way you just treated your little brother made me so proud.' It's like about the way we are about our kids."

"But anyway, Millie, we love you," they concluded.
