The latest National Thoroughbred Racing Association poll has three news names in the top 10 3-year-old rankings.
Sovereignty was ranked third after his win in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth, up from no. 15 last week. Gotham (G3) winner Flood Zone went from unranked to no. 8, and River Thames, second in the Fountain of Youth, moved to no. 9 from no. 20.
Both of those races were Kentucky Derby points preps, offering 50 points to the winner.
Journalism, winner of the weekend’s other Kentucky Derby prep, the San Felipe (G2), moved to no. 2 from no. 7.
Dropping out of the top 10 were Burnham Square, previously no. 4; Good Cheer, previously no. 9; and Getaway Car, previously no. 10.
