EL CERRITO — BART shut down its El Cerrito Plaza station and closed service between North Berkeley and Richmond on Tuesday after a train apparently hit a person, officials said.

No other information on the person was available immediately.
BART shut down service between its North Berkeley and the El Cerrito del Norte stations. The El Cerrito Plaza station remained closed past 9 a.m, and trains were turned back at North Berkeley.
AC Transit honored BART fares on lines No. 72 (Richmond to North Berkeley), No. 79 (El Cerrito Plaza to Berkeley) and No. 7 (El Cerrito Del Norte to Berkeley).
