CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — NC Highway Patrol say they've made an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead last month.
Around 8:50 p.m. on Feb. 14, troopers responded to US 70 near 4th Street SW in Conover in reference to a crash.

Officials say a bicyclist, identified as 58-year-old Donald Steven Ricker, was traveling east on US 70 when he was struck by a vehicle that immediately fled the scene. Ricker died at the scene.
On March 2, NCSHP arrested 44-year-old Allen Dale Bivens of Claremont and charged him with felony hit-and-run, failure to report an accident and window tint violation.
Bivens is being held at the Catawba County Detention Center under a $7,000 bond.
