Hugh Freeze was recently diagnosed with an early form of prostate cancer, Auburn said in a statement on Friday.
The prognosis appears to be a good one for the Tigers’ head football coach, who will continue with his normal coaching duties while undergoing treatment. The school said doctors detected the cancer early and Freeze has been advised that it is “very treatable and curable.”
Freeze is expected to make a full recovery.
“Coach Freeze is incredibly appreciative of our medical professionals and has asked that we use this experience as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing and scheduling annual health screenings,” the school said.
