Alabama announces A-Day details, cancels live broadcast

Alabama announced key details for A-Day on Friday morning.

While numerous programs have already canceled their spring games for 2025, Alabama is taking a different approach. The Crimson Tide will hold a public game as normal, but it will not feature a live broadcast as it has in previous years.

Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. CT and the game will be free for all fans to attend, the program says.

This seems to be something of a compromise for Alabama as other programs have canceled spring games altogether this year. Nebraska, Texas, NC State and USC are a few of the programs who have made that decision.

Most recently, NC State coach Dave Doeren said the Wolfpack were choosing to cancel their spring game because they didn’t want any plays or tendencies to be made public as they hired 2 new coordinators this offseason.

“For obvious reasons, you don’t want your stuff out there if it doesn’t have to be,” Doeren said earlier this month.

Perhaps Alabama is taking a similar approach under Kalen DeBoer. Kane Wommack is set to return as Alabama’s DC, but this will be the first spring for Ryan Grubb as the program’s offensive coordinator.

Alabama’s first spring practice is set for March 3.
