SAQUON Barkley played a huge role in the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl earlier this month.
The running back achieved 57 rushing yards and 40 receiving yards on the way to the Eagles dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans.
Barkley’s Super Bowl triumph came on his 28th birthday, capping off a perfect first season in Philadelphia.
In amazing throwback footage circulating online, the Bronx-born star can be seen working out at the 2018 NFL Combine.
Following three seasons with Penn State, Barkley was already one of the top prospects in that year’s draft.
He then performed well in front of the scouts.
Fresh faced, Barkley could be seen putting up 29 reps in the bench press.
He then performed his vertical jump, getting 41 inches off the ground.
The video clip concludes with his 40 metre dash, which he completed in 4.40 seconds.
Barkley was subsequently selected No.2 in the draft by the New York Giants, only behind No.1 pick Baker Mayfield.
He would go on to play for the Giants for six seasons, before leaving in 2024.
In March last year, Barkley signed a three-year, $37.75 million contract with the Eagles, marking a fresh chapter in his career.
That number could even rise to as high as $46.75m, while $26m is guaranteed.
The move proved to be a good decision, with Barkley going on to win a title.
Following the Eagles’ Super Bowl triumph, Barkley arranged special gifts for his teammates.
Per NBC’s John Clark, Barkley worked with Bud Light to gift each of the Eagles’ offensive linemen with a truckload of beer.
All of the starting offensive linemen, Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Mekhi Becton, and Lane Johnson, received their own truck of Bud Light.
Fans praised Barkley for his gesture on X.
“That’s how it’s done. Kudos to Barkley,” one wrote.
“Greatest teammate ever,” another commented.
“What a leader,” a third added.
“Legend,” a fourth stated.
