Quotes about music and life

“There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is.”

“Music is the wine that fills the cup of silence.”

“After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.” (Anon.)

    Music in the halls

Former Sheriff Tom Allman wrote: “Imagine, living in a community where you have a modern and well-staffed new Hospital and having live and beautiful guitar music being played as you enter the lobby. I guess it’s just normal living in Willits, California.” Of course, he is referring to Howard Adventist Hospital. Kudos to Howard Hospital for having live musicians on hand.

    Music is therapy

Music therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses music to improve mental health and well-being. It involves a trained music therapist collaborating with individuals to create a personalized and supportive musical experience.

Benefits of Music Therapy for Mental Health:

    – Reduces stress and anxiety: Music can have calming and soothing effects, which can help reduce stress and anxiety levels.

    – Improves mood and emotional regulation: Music can evoke positive emotions and help individuals express and process difficult feelings.

    – Enhances self-expression and communication: Music therapy provides a non-verbal outlet for individuals to express themselves and explore their emotions.

    – Improves cognitive function: Music can stimulate the brain and enhance cognitive abilities, such as memory and attention.

    – Promotes social interaction and connection: Group music therapy sessions can provide a sense of community and support.

Evidence-Based Research: Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of music therapy for mental health conditions.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) website states: “Research shows the benefits of music therapy for various mental health conditions, including depression, trauma, and schizophrenia (to name a few). Music acts as a medium for processing emotions, trauma, and grief — but music can also be utilized as a regulating or calming agent for anxiety or for dysregulation.
