A fire in a woodshop classroom at Columbine High School on Wednesday forced students to evacuate and canceled classes for the day after flames extended into the ventilation system, South Metro Fire Rescue officials said.
Two firefighters had minor injuries after a fire in the classroom’s exterior wood dust collector turned into a flash fire, South Metro said in a post on X.

Students were evacuated from the school and several were evaluated for unspecified medical needs. The school was closed for the rest of the day.
