COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A northeast Columbus home has been destroyed by a fire that ignited for the second time in less than 12 hours.
According to police dispatch, a home on the 3000 block of Chelford Drive in the northeast section of the city was fully engulfed in flames just after 2:30 a.m. Monday morning. Crews arrived shortly after and closed off all roads in the area.
Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter said the home is the same location from an earlier fire Sunday night. By 3:10 p.m. the fire was contained.
The Sunday fire reportedly started in the kitchen and at that time one person escaped with their dogs. It is believed that the fire rekindled later that night.
No one was in the home during the second fire and no injuries have been reported.
